Mohave Community College Men’s Soccer gears up for final home game of inaugural regular season versus Eastern Arizona College

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College Men’s Soccer is back on a winning streak, having knocked back three games in a row following a 2-1 win over Yavapai College on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Bighorns now prepare to host Eastern Arizona College at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Firebird Field in Bullhead City for the last home game of the inaugural regular season.
Men’s Head Coach Camilo Valencia says Saturday’s matchup was a great game that saw a lot of Bighorn players get minutes and even play in different positions. The Bighorns and the Roughriders were battling for second place in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC), with the Bighorns coming out on top in what Valencia called a “very complete performance.”
“When you play on the road, you’re fighting the travel, the fact that you’re playing on a field you are not used to and, in this case, we were also fighting the altitude,” Valencia says. “The guys responded very well and adapted to some tough conditions, all while playing against a tough team. It’s always tough to be on the road and this was a great win.”
Valencia says his squad dominated for the vast majority of the game. Erik Nava scored first for the Bighorns off an assist from Misael Meza, with Brayan Lino scoring the second goal, unassisted.
Saturday marked the second matchup between the two squads this season, with Mohave Community College also getting the win in September by a score of 1-0. Now, the Bighorns prepare to play Eastern Arizona College, also for the second time this year. The Bighorns lost the first matchup in September 2-1.
“Eastern Arizona is a very physical team, a fast team that has some exciting players,” Valencia says. “Last time, it was an evenly-matched game on the road that we let escape with 30 seconds to go. Fans should expect the usual Mohave energy to start the game, and then we’ll hopefully close our regular season at home with a win.”
As noted by Valencia, Tuesday marks the last home game of the inaugural regular season for Mohave Community College Men’s Soccer.
“This is going to be the last opportunity for our fans to see a regular-season match at home until next fall,” he says.
